(history see below)

Simple command-line script for command-line access to CHAMP ME public data in a batch mode. Permit to access ISDC ME public data is required. For usage information please try option -h.

The script is an experimental version, so handle with care. It uses the scripting language perl and some perl modules, which can be downloaded from CPAN.

It was developed under SuSE 9.2, but should work at least on current Linux-Boxes with perl and the required FTP module installed. It may be neccessary to customize the path to the perl-interpreter in the first line. Again, please report bugs, bugfixes and proposals for further improvement -- and please note, that this script, an inofficial, little tool to make the ISDC more comfortable, is still a hack.

See documentation and examples in the scripts code. The option -clean (to finish canceled attempts) is not working again -- yet. Please report any failures

Available are versions developed for 'Linux'. Version history:

-- Version 7c (04) --
2011-Jan-17:
Minor, but essential change, because ISDC batch functionality changed the path to exchange directories.

-- Version 7b (08) --
2008-Dez-02:
Minor changes

-- Version 6f (07) --
2007-Feb-10:
fixed longstandig weakness: now ftp binary mode selected explicitly; not relying anymore on that ftp download seems to work even without.

2006-Oct-27: a recent modification of the syntax of the batch (prl) system at GFZ ISDC required a fix to version 6f-06; previous versions will not work anymore.

New on version 6f: option added to globally ignore all versions above a given integer number to skip new FGM-NEC versions 50 and greater with improved ASC/CSC euler angle corrections, but slightly modified format. (But this corrected 50+ versions are, nevertheless, recommended!)

-- Version 6 --
The change to a version 6 of getisdc.pl was required to cope with the new scheme of the CHAMP-ISDC batch-mode in 2005, the new server and new users download directory paths; also the internal loop to handle long periods with one call is modified, the older option -daystep should not be used anymore. All serious bug fixes or workarounds found during previous versions are included.

-- Version 1.12 (experimental) --

A cleaning script for directories with CHAMP ME public products, it travels through a directory tree and tries to find the most recent or actual data for a type of public CHAMP ME products; to use for trees, where the number of files may be to large to clean the tree by hand; compressed files with the extensions 'gzip', 'zip' or 'Z' are decompressed on the fly (using the directory '/tmp' for extraction and external (unix) programs).
This version is able to scan for:

  • CH-ME-2-OVM
  • CH-ME-2-FGM-FGM
  • CH-ME-2-FGM-NEC
