Topics Section 1.4
The section is working in the field Earth and Environment of programme-oriented funding of the Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft.
Based on application-oriented, scientifically relevant questions our section develops methodological developments for monitoring, data analysis and data evaluation in optical remote sensing, esp. in imaging spectroscopy and with InSAR technology.
Optical Remote Sensing
Optical remote sensing analyzes varying radiation (spectral properties) in the visible, near infrared and short-wave infrared, reflected from different targets on the Earth's surface.
Radar Remote Sensing
Satellite RADAR data have the capability to generate acquisitions of the Earth surface both during the night and through clouds. InSAR technology is used to detect and analyze subtle geometric-morphologic changes at the Earth’s surface.
