Atmospheric data from European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF)

Atmospheric forcing fields for numerical simulations with LSDM and OMCT are primarily obtained from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). These include operational data that are available to us with 4 days latency as well as re-analysis time-series aslike the most recent ERA-40 and ERA Interim data-sets. Data-sets include both 6-hourly analyses at 00, 06, 12 and 18 hours UTC each day. Additionally, 10 days forecasts with temporal resolution of up to 3 hours are used.

Land Surface Discharge Model (LSDM)

The Land Surface Discharge Model (LSDM), based on a simplified land surface scheme and a river routing model, is capable of simulating the continental branch of the hydrological cycle. LSDM is primarily forced by ECMWF atmospheric fields and provides continental discharge as input data for ocean simulations.

Ocean Model for Circulation and Tides (OMCT)
The Ocean Model for Circulation and Tides (OMCT) is a global baroclinic ocean circulation model developed for studying non-linear interactions among tides and the general circulation. Since the model is most suited to reproduce short-to-medium term ocean dynamics, its results have been applied in various space geodetic studies in order to interpret or to correct for non-tidal ocean effects on sub-daily to multi-year time-scales.
