DFG Research Unit FOR 584 - Earth Rotation and Global Dynamic Processes

The Research Unit is a medium-term collaboration between a number of scientists and academics (who may be in different locations) working on a specific research topic. Scientists of Section "Earth System Modelling" are assigned with scientific investigations in following projects of the research unit "Earth rotation and global dynamic processes".

Earth Rotation and the Ocean's Circulation (EROC)
Project 2

EROC focuses on the quantification of ocean angular momentum variations by means of complementary unconstrained and assimilating global ocean models that are consistent with Earth rotation measurements and observed ocean dynamics.

Project 10

The project investigates to what extent observed variations of Earth rotation parameters can be utilized as indicators for climate change and variability which are independent of measurements in atmosphere and oceans.
