Abstract (EDOC: 1250)
A new technique for merging multispectral and panchromatic images is proposed. The technique is based on extracting constant grey levels of the high resolution panchromatic data within the pixel size of the multispectral data. Spectral signatures are retrieved for these gray levels, generating a new synthetic merged image. The result reveals spectral variations within multispectral pixels, which are associated with variations of the panchromatic radiance. The technique is applied to MOMS-02/D2 data acquired over Harare, Zimbabwe. Results are compared to the standard PCA merging technique.
