7th European Conference on Mineralogy and Spectroscopy ECMS 2011
7th European Conference on Mineralogy and Spectroscopy ECMS 2011
Section 3.3 "Chemistry and Physics of Earth Materials" of the GFZ is organising the ECMS 2011 which will be held from 4th to 7th September in building H.
This small but highly sophisticated conference invites geoscientists interested in spectroscopic methods to discuss intensively the latest scientific results. The first of these meetings took place 1988 in Roma, conferences following in Berlin (1995), Kiev (1996), Vienna (2004) and Stockholm (2007).
This year more than 100 participants from more than 20 different countries announced their attendance. The submitted contributions focus on spectroscopic methods, the application of these methods cover a broad field: from atomistic consideration such as pressure-induced electron spin transitions, elastic and thermodynamic properties of Earth's mantle minerals, studies on gem stones, environmental mineralogy to the appplication of spectroscopic methods in remote sensing.
Registration and ice breaker party will be on Sunday, the 4th of September, followed by a 3-day scientific program with 15 minutes talks and poster presentation. As traditional for this conference, six international recognized scientist were invited to give key note talks.
