Questions:
Which budget pays the book?
The book will be paid from the library's budget.
How can I get a book which is not in the library's stock?
If you need that book for your research, two ways are possible to obtain it:
- If you need only an article from that book, if you just want to browse through its content or it is an older book we can borrow the book from other libraries within a few days via interlibrary loan.
- If it makes sense that the library buys the book or you need it for a longer time or it is a standard in your research field, just fill in the book order form (differs from institution), let it sign by your superior and send it to the library. Colleagues from:
- send AWI book order form - please fill in and pass it to the respective library commissioner.
- GFZ can order via e.biss form
- IASS, please turn to Anja Beddies in the IASS library, E-mail: anja.beddies@iass-potsdam.de
- PIK, please turn to Marcel Meistring in the PIK library: meistring@pik-potsdam.de
The library will order the book immediately (we get special discounts), catalog it and show it for a short time at the new acquisitions shelf. You will get news as soon as possible that it is available for you.
How can I order a journal for purchase that is in my opinion just missing in the library?
It is helpful, if you name some colleagues who are also interested in that journal. Please fill in the appropriate form (see last answer) and mail it to the library. We will contact you and keep you updated.
May I suggest a book, although I have no direct needs?
Of course!
If you think the book should be part of the libary's collection as a standard, please feel free to suggest it for purchase.
