How long can I keep my books?

We have to kinds of lending periods:
1. Media from the Library (A17 and branch libraries in AWI, PIK, IASS) and
2. for interlibrary loan / document delivery from other libraries.

1. Media from the Library

We distinguish between staff from the campus Telegrafenberg (incl. IASS) and external users.

Staff
For staff the elementary loan period is 30 days. It will be automatically extended, if necessary, to 120 days.
Second to fifth extensions need your action. Renew online up to 450 days.
When the maximum is reached you can of course make immediately a new lending.
If another user reservates the book, the period shortens and you get a request to bring back the book.
It is no problem to reservate the book then again for you.

External
External users are given a loan period of 10 days. This can be extended one time after presenting the media at the library.

2. Interlibrary loan / document delivery - books from other libraries.

The loan periods are given from our partners, usually the period is four to six weeks.
Please ask for an extension at least 4 work days before the period ends.
