Geomagnetic Observatories
Geomagnetic observatory data provide an important contribution to the scientific investigation of the Earth's interior and its exterior environment. Observatories with long tradition represent a reliable source of high quality data series. Our Adolf-Schidt-Observatory for Geomagnetism in Niemegk is one of these. Nowadays the international research community requires near real-time digital observatory data. In the frame of international cooperations with institutes around the globe we have installed modern digital instruments in several observatories and set up new observatories in remote locations. These efforts are made to upgrade traditional and reliable observatories to the current quality standard and fill gaps in the global INTERMAGNET network.
