08.11.2016: For the fourth time the GFZ welcomes its newly appointed professors with a formal reception. Warm welcomes and congratulations are given to nineteen newly appointed colleagues. With these new positions the regional excellence in geosciences is clearly strengthened.

Fifteen of these new professorships are joint positions of partner universities and the GFZ. With this model, the ties with the universities are strengthened and the Centre becomes more attractive for young talents. Five new colleagues were recruited within the framework of the Helmholtz Association’s recruiting initiative for excellent scientists.

There are alltogether eleven new professorships at the Universität Potsdam, four at the Freie Universität Berlin, three at the Technische Universität Berlin, and one appointment with the Technische Universität Braunschweig. In one case, with the Hasso Plattner Institute, there is another institute involved. (ak)
