International Office wins DFG Ideas competition

The GFZ wins an award in the national ideas competition "International Research Marketing“. The concept "The international Geo-Campus Potsdam/Berlin - Enhancing the international visibility of GFZ and the Geo.X Network to capitalize a worldwide unique constellation of research and training opportunities", submitted by the GFZ International Office, wins 100,000 Euro, funded by the German Research Foundation DFG.

The GFZ wins an award in the national ideas competition "International Research Marketing“. The concept "The international Geo-Campus Potsdam/Berlin - Enhancing the international visibility of GFZ and the Geo.X Network to capitalize a worldwide unique constellation of research and training opportunities", submitted by the GFZ International Office, wins 100,000 Euro, funded by the German Research Foundation DFG.

With this prize the international visibility of the GFZ and the Geo.X-network shall be increased. A focus is on Russia as well as the Near and Middle East. Summer schools and workshops for young scientists are some of the planned measures. Further, networking via „Geoscience Days“ in German Ambassies of the focus countries are part of the concept.

It was the second ideas competition to support international research marketing activities. Other awardees are the Humbolt University of and the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. A start up special prize was awarded to the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. The award ceremony takes place on 16 February, 2017 in Potsdam.
