Prof. Wagner is new representative of the IASC Terrestrial Working Group.

05.12.2014│Trier: GFZ scientist Dirk Wagner was elected as new representative of the Terrestrial Working Group of the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) for the German National Committee for Polar Research SCAR/IASC of the German Science Foundation (DFG).

As German representative of the IASC Terrestrial Working Group, Prof. Wagner is involved in developing the German and international polar research. Besides his active participation in IASC, his main task is to inform the German National Committee for Polar Research of the German Research Foundation (DFG) about the activities of the Terrestrial Working Group to convey an appropriate feedback and networking of the German side. As one of six IASC Working Groups, the Terrestrial Working Group focuses on any scientific research on arctic terrestrial and freshwater environments, landscapes and biota, and their responses to, and interactions with other components of the Earth system.
Prof. Wagner is head of GFZ section “Geomicrobiology”.
