GFZ is happy to welcome you to the Second GNSS4SWEC Summer School.

GNSS4SWEC stands for Advanced Global Navigation Satellite Systems tropospheric products for monitoring severe weather events and climate. This is a COST project, which started in May 2013 with the main objective to connect the community of scientists in Europe, who concentrate their research on the synergy of Meteorology, Geodesy, GNSS and related to those fields topics. The research area of this project project is spatial and temporal variability of water vapour in the atmosphere and its impact on severe atmospheric events, the climate system in general, as well as on the accuracy of the GNSS positioning products.

The goal of this Summer School is to give knowledge and tools to the PhD students in this sphere of Earth studies to make advanced research of the atmosphere. The school is going to be a continuation of the topics, which were discussed during the First GNSS4SWEC Summer School in 2014.

All PhD students and Early Post-Docs from the GNSS4SWEC community wanting to participate are requested to present a poster of their research during the summer school. This means, your abstract submission is your summer school application!

The abstracts for the posters are to be submitted to gfzcost(at)

Please follow the deadlines below:

18th of April, Monday - Poster abstract submission deadline

20th of June, Monday - deadline for booking in Mercure Hotel in Potsdam

3rd of July, Sunday - deadline for booking in Dorint Hotel in Potsdam

The selection of participants will be made by the core team of the GNSS4SWEC project.  Applicants will be informed about the decision by April 22, 2016.

All the newest information will be presented on this web page! Stay tuned for the incoming program of the school.

The School is exclusively organised for PhD students and early Post-Docs from the member institutions of the GNSS4SWEC project. Abstracts from students outside the project community will be considered only in case of not enough participants from the community.
