For Section 6.4 “Centre for Scientific Drilling”/ Department 6 “Geotechnologies” we invite applications for a
Section 6.4 is devoted to scientific drilling and to geophysical investigations in the underground applying e.g. high-resolution seismic exploration and geophysical downhole logging. The successful candidate will play a central role in the DFG funded project: “Core-log-seismic integration in hard rock environments using the ICDP drilling project COSC-1, Sweden”. The project investigates geophysical properties of rocks from Seve Nappe Complex at the COSC-1 borehole (Sweden) and will establish a high-resolution seismic stratigraphy using the core-log-seismic integration method (CLSI). CLSI is a strategy to integrate data with different spatial resolution from core measurements, downhole logging and seismic data. The work involves laboratory analyses on core samples using different technique and instruments at GFZ in Potsdam, Germany and ETH Zürich, Switzerland. The work will be conducted in close collaboration with GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel. The candidate will spend the first two years at GFZ followed by a third year at Geomar in Kiel.
The successful candidate will be involved in GFZ activities in the following fields of work:
|Starting date||as soon as possible|
